The vintage sectional you see below was found with its original fabrication you see here at a secondhand store. The hardwood frame was in excellent condition, although the padding and the overall look was tired and extremely dated. This look, however, has made a strong comeback with new furniture designers. So with a little redesigning of this piece and reupholstering with a beautiful new fabric that fits its vintage look, transforms and updates, this piece that was once a tired sectional, is now a beautiful fit in the den where it is located.

Tables, consoles, bookcases, chest of drawers, at some point all woods needs to be revitalized. If either contemporary or antique, keeping these furniture items properly characterized within the period style they were meant to represent is important. You would not want to stain something black that was meant to have a blonde finish on it, or vice versa. Likewise, keeping a bookshelf such as the two twins pictured here and refinishing them, is a better investment with your dollar than purchasing these items new and ending up paying five times the amount of money.
